On the balcony, above the quicklime of plasterer Bernard Leferink

Above his lime pit, master plasterer Bernard Leferink poses with his son Frans, the taller son Antoon, his brother-in law Johan Veldkamp from America and Bernard’s daughters Marie and Truus. Uncle Johan invited his niece Marie to accompany him on his return journey to his new homeland. Initially she agreed to take the big step and was quite exited about it, but instead of obtaining a passport and visa for America, Marie in the long end, finished up with a simpler document, a passport to allow her to cross the German border a few kilometres from her home.
It was issued on January 13, 1928; by co-incidence this was the birthday of her future husband Antoon who turned 36 that day. Did they go for a trip together to nearby Gronau to celebrate?
