Rocla Pipes and Springvale station in the fifties.

John Leferink worked as a carpenter at Rocla Pipes since he arrived in Australia in 1951 untill his retirement. In the foreground Springvale station and its old gates who were closed and opened by hand. Now the scene has drastically changed, the station itself hasn't altered much, but the road has been widened threefold and boomgates installed with flashing lights. Rocla has disappeared from the map, instead we have a new neighbourhood with mostly double story mansions. Behind just out of view is the well known Sandown Race tracks for horses and cars. Rolling fast forward to 2014, and this wooden station has been pulled down and replaced with a modern concrete one with the rail track going under Springvale road, no more boom gates.
