Young Tony in an easy chair

Tulips look at their best in mass plantings, it seems that Dad didn't have enough bulbs so he spread them a bit.
The winter has departed and a thirsty Tony is enjoying the first warm sunrays of a glorious spring day in April 1940. In the background the two storey flats of Alexander Street are partly hidden by the privet hedge that survived the frost of another merciless winter. The neat row of tulips is begging someone to tiptoe through them.
